White Woman, Teresa Klein, Called Police on Black Child She Falsely Accused of Groping

Who will hear our voices? This weekend a white woman, Teresa Klein, called the police on a black child she falsely accused of groping her in the store. She caused a dramatic scene, falsely identified herself as a police officer and then called the cops on the boy as he cried hysterically.

The 9-year-old boy with his mother and little sister walked past the women headed out the store when the incident occurred. The store surveillance video clearly exonerated the child and showed that his book bag accidentally touched Klein as he walked past her. The boys hands were full and he at no point was even paying attention to Klein.

This woman purposely chose to terrorize and criminalize this child. What do you think should happen to Klein for the false accusations? #CornerstoreCaroline

God’s Child – How I Survived Trauma and Turned Tragedy into Truimph

A poster from a social media group recently asked, “on a scale of 1-7 what are your beliefs according to the Dawkins Scale?” I thought initially, “why is this today’s discussion?” I’m definitely a 1, I believe strongly in God and know without Him I am nothing. I’ve survived so much trauma in life: CHILD ABUSE, RAPE, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, and WAR. It’s because of God’s grace that I survived and turned Tragedy into Triumph!

There have been multiple times when I questioned God and asked why He would allow so much hurt in my life? After I was raped at the tender age of 15, I turned away from God for the first time. I’ve learned without God as my center, my life spirals out of control. Sure I could have chose to hate God and hate those who hurt me. Instead, I chose love. One day at my lowest point I literally dropped to my knees and prayed. I asked God to use me as his vessel to help others heal.

Once I FINALLY started living my life God’s way I’ve been abundantly blessed. I started my non-profit “The Next Chapter,” to provide much needed resources to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. I recently co-authored a book with my Veteran Sisters titled “Camouflaged Sisters Presents Behind the Ranks Vol I,” to share our stories. I joined my Veteran Sisters who are “Own Our Way Up,” and “Brown Girls Syndicate” in two Mastermind Groups to push our businesses, professional and personal lives forward. Finally, I launched two of my newest ventures “Simply Ebony” my lifestyle blog and “Success Creators” to help others discover their pathway to success. Everything that I have accomplished in life is because of God’s Grace.

 #JusticeForShadowMcClaine This story truly breaks my heart. There are too many silent victims of domestic violence who have reached out for help yet their cries fall on deaf ears. There are too many murdered victims killed at the hands of their abusers. Shadow McClaine, a Fort Campbell soldier, was viciously sexually assaulted and murdered by her ex-husband SGT. Jamal Williams-McCray and his accomplice SPC Charles Robinson. McClaine originally went missing on September 2, 2016. Family and friends launched a tireless campaign to convince the Army to open an investigation and conduct a search to find her. McClaine’s skeletal remains were found earlier this year at the Maxey Road exit off Interstate 24, in Clarksville, Tennessee. The cause of death has not been disclosed.

Multiple charges have been filed against Williams-McCray and Robinson for the murder of McClaine, according to Fort Campbell officials. The two suspects are held in pre-trial confinement pending the outcome of the court-martial charges that include the following: Article 134 – kidnapping, Article 81 – conspiracy, and Article 118 – premeditated murder, under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). In addition, Williams-McCray has been charged with sexual assault, aggravated assault, and obstruction of justice. The preliminary hearing for all of the charges will be held later in the month.

#MissingDCGirls #FindOurGirls There has been a total of 501 missing juveniles in D.C., as of March 2017, of those cases 18 critical cases are still open and 4 non critical. Let’s be clear any child that goes missing is a great concern but let’s recognize that the Metropolitan Police Department (MPDC) tirelessly works to find every missing child.

I challenge everyone to first verify facts before reacting. Many of these youth are runaways. Let’s address this issue for a second. How do we create and build wrap around services to help our youth feel safe at home or find our youth alternative places to live? Let’s work together to come up with real solutions to address the underlying problems.

The increased awareness that has been noted is directly due to the MPDC strategically putting these cases on all of their social media platforms. The current discussions about these missing children in D.C. is a positive step to raise awareness and hopefully save these children from possible human trafficking, organ harvesting, or death.

The great work of the MPDC should be recognized. These officers work day in and day out to find these children. Please give them proper credit for actually getting the public talking and for raising awareness about these missing children. It is a positive sign that the media, Congressional Black Caucus, the Department of Justice, and the Mayor’s office are now actively involved. Hopefully the increased spotlight on these missing children will bring them all back home safely.

Maryland Women’s Legislative Briefing New Visions, New Voices: Charting the Course for Our Future

Today I plan to sit at the table with women throughout Maryland to discuss important legislation concerning us at the Maryland Women’s Legislative Briefing. It’s hard to have a voice if you don’t sit at the table. Rape laws matter. The Violence Against Women Act matters. Immigration laws matter. Equality in Pay matters. Family Medical Sick Leave and the minimum wage increase matters. These are all issues we’ve been fighting for years. These are topics we’ll be discussing today. How to push forward on these laws impacting women. Today we will establish “New Visions, New Voices: Charting the Course for Our Future.”

Get involved! If you are interested in joining the movement to chart our future here are steps that you can take:

Run for office.
* Volunteer to help a campaign.
* Apply for positions on the local Task Forces and the Commissions.
* Learn who your Congressional Representatives are and contact them to let them know how you feel about the Executive Orders. Find and contact your Representative here: http://www.house.gov/representatives/find/

Hi everyone! Happy New Year! Yes, it’s January 26, 2017 and I decided to FINALLY start my blog.  This is your exclusive access to “Simply Ebony.”  I made a goal this year to connect and engage with amazing people.

Who am I? I tag myself as #LadyofInspiration the one who gives freely and lives purposefully.  I founded The Next Chapter and Success Creators and currently serve as the CEO for both organizations.  I advocate for survivors of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault.  I am a proud Air Force and Operation Enduring Freedom Veteran!
